Hafthor Bjornsson is no stranger to grappling and martial arts and has previously trained with the likes of Gunnar Nelson and other black belts. With this said, even though Hafthor isn’t the best grappler in the world – he at least knows some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
This week saw Hafthor sparring against no gi legend Gordon Ryan in a UFC gym. However, it didn’t end particularly well for Hafthor whose size clearly didn’t matter against Ryan. In fairness, Gordon Ryan is considered as the best ever in no gi so it wasn’t particularly fair in terms of skill. Ironically, many Gordon Ryan critics have previously criticized him for competing against smaller opponents so at least he was the smaller man this time!
The video showed Ryan take down Bjornsson, take his back, mount him and tap him. As you can imagine – this wouldn’t be a particularly easy task against the man who literally played The Mountain in the hit TV show Game Of Thrones. A good sport, Hafthor Bjornsson captioned the video “Got humbled quite badly by Jiu Jitsu champion Gordon Ryan”
