2022 marked the year when an AI generated image won an international art prize. So, we decided to check out what it had to say about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As ever with AI generated images, there is quite a lot going on. For instance, some of the pictures seem to have real indicators that BJJ is at play – whilst others look more bizarre. Check them out below.
As seen in the picture above, we can clearly see a man in a white gi and white belt, in a lovely dojo setting. However, we can’t explain the weird, black leg going into his body without any experience of the opponent’s torso. This looks to be some kind of stand up grappling routine.
In this picture, the action has clearly entered the ground. It almost looks as if someone has a top position, whilst the person on the bottom is seated with their head covered. It looks as though they’re also wearing a red belt with lots of stripes on it. Just don’t mention the demonic looking face!
Perhaps the coolest picture of the lot, this one has someone in a guard position. Here, it looks like they’ve pulled guard, or if they’re attempting a helicopter sweep or something. Of course, their opponent’s body isn’t very well formed though. Not to mention, their also looks a bit odd.
In this image, we can see someone in a white gi attempting a takedown on his opponent whose gi is a mixture of colors. More than BJJ, this almost looks like a Judo throw. Based on the above images, this image looks more akin to stand-up grappling compared to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and ground grappling. With this in mind, it will be interesting to see how AI images advance in the future.
