Mark Zuckerberg, the renowned Facebook founder and current Meta CEO, has achieved a significant milestone in his martial arts journey. Recently, his coach, Dave Camarillo at Guerilla Jiu-Jitsu, promoted him to the coveted blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Given his long-standing interest and involvement in both Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and BJJ, it comes as no surprise that he has surpassed the beginner’s level of the white belt.
Zuckerberg’s passion for BJJ dates back a few years when he first explored the sport and quickly developed a deep affinity for it. In fact, he even shared his enthusiasm for BJJ during an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. Earlier this year, Zuckerberg took a leap of faith and ventured onto the competitive BJJ mats for the very first time. Impressively, he not only won a match but also secured a medal in the process. His courage and dedication to compete garnered praise and recognition from the entire BJJ community, considering the spotlight and attention he attracted from the outset.
Throughout his BJJ journey, Zuckerberg has remained loyal to his coach, Dave Camarillo, who has undoubtedly played a significant role in his growth and development in the discipline. Moreover, he has had the privilege of training with elite BJJ competitor Mikey Musumeci, further contributing to his progress. Now, after several years of training under experienced BJJ black belts and achieving a commendable result in competition, Mark Zuckerberg’s dedication has been rewarded with the blue belt.
As he continues to progress in BJJ, it will be intriguing to witness his future endeavors, and whether he decides to take on further challenges in competitive BJJ at this elevated level.
