Jon Jones spars Gordon Ryan in no gi Clash of The Titans

Today saw an interesting sight for grappling fans everywhere, as MMA legend Jon Jones posted a clip on his Instagram account that saw him sparring BJJ legend Gordon Ryan. Although the clip was under one minute long, it included plenty of scrambles and techniques on offer, whereby Jon Jones shot in for a takedown and nearly completed it.

Gordon Ryan replied by almost sweeping Jones off it and temporarily got on top before Jones did a sit-out from the turtle position to attack yet another takedown. Overall, this showed the high level of both competitors as well as their natural movements and awareness. On a side note, it also shows just how good Jon Jones is when it comes to grappling.

Jones captioned this by saying, “Let the good times roll.” Unfortunately though, it’s not known if more footage will be posted. Obviously, BJJ fans will be wanting more, and it would be interesting to see the ground game of Jones, as opposed to mostly wrestling.

This came after Gordon flew out to Albuquerque for business and met up with Jones out there. They also hung out at a shooting range and Ryan tempted more footage, by writing “A week of Jonny Bones collabs coming at you.”

So, there’s a real possibility that this footage will be released at some point – which would be awesome from the perspective of a grappling fan.
