Demetrious Johnson to compete at IBJJF Masters Worlds

Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, the celebrated ONE FC star and former UFC flyweight champion, has officially joined the IBJJF Masters Worlds competition. In the men’s Master 2 featherweight division at the brown belt level, “Mighty Mouse” will proudly represent AMC Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His inclusion adds excitement to one of the tournament’s largest brackets, featuring a formidable assembly of over 30 contenders vying for gold.

Set in Las Vegas, Nevada, Masters Worlds is scheduled to unfold from August 31 to September 2. The registration capacity at the venue is currently at an impressive 90% mark. This implies that there is still a window for men aged 36 to 40, holding brown belts in the featherweight division, to seize the opportunity and register. They can test their skills against one of the most accomplished flyweight fighters globally, with the chance to vie for a prestigious jiu-jitsu world title.

Overall, you’d be naive to write Mighty Mouse off. This is because his wrestling is extraordinary, while his BJJ game is also stellar. In one UFC fight, he famously submitted an opponent by transitioning between a suplex into an armbar in what became one of the most famous submissions ever seen in MMA. Not only this but his natural base and athleticism from MMA will also be quite a good starting point as a competitor.
