Over the weekend, Gordon Ryan successfully called his submission victory at WNO against Patrick Gaudio. Here, he snatched an armbar which was predicted by him beforehand. The prediction was revealed after the bout when Ryan opened a box that contained a note, predicting an armbar win. This coincided with his latest DVD instructional, which was aptly based on armbars.
After his win, he was praised online by a number of fans and the likes of Jon Jones. However, one shocking fan of his was Donald Trump Jr. Here, the former USA President’s son praised Gordon Ryan and wrote on his Instagram account. Here, he wrote: “Well done man. Congrats” with several applause emojis. A screenshot of the exchange can be seen below.
In some ways, this isn’t too surprising seeing as Gordon Ryan has been a longtime fan of Trump. Similarly, grappling has grown more mainstream in recent years with the likes of Mark Zuckerberg helping highlight its popularity.
Donald Trump Jr. may be pleased to see Gordon Ryan back grappling after his health issues. Although it has not yet been confirmed, it is believed that Ryan will face Lucas ‘Hulk’ Barbosa next after the Brazilian called him out following his win over Barbosa’s compatriot, Gaudio.
