Michael “Mikey” Musumeci is an American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and currently signed to UFC BJJ. Widely regarded as one of the most technically dominant figures in the history of submission grappling, Musumeci is known for his highly analytical approach to the sport, characterized by complex guard systems and precision leg attacks.
Musumeci began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of four alongside his older sister, Tammy Musumeci. He quickly rose through the youth ranks, earning his black belt at age 18 under renowned instructors Gilbert Burns and Igor Silva.
After establishing an unprecedented dominant streak in the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF), Musumeci signed with ONE Championship in 2022. He made his promotional debut at ONE 156, defeating Chinese newcomer Zhao Zhiqiang by rear-naked choke to become the first-ever ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Champion.
Outside of competitive grappling, Musumeci holds a degree in business and forensic accounting from Franklin University.
