Eddie Bravo releases 10th Planet Team Duel – A new competition format

This week saw the release of ’10th Planet Team Duel’ which is yet another new idea from 10th Planet head honcho, Eddie Bravo. The video showed the prelims of the event that was shot at the 10th Planet HQ. Here, the format was no gi sub-only rules with four teams, comprised of five competitors each. This meant 10 minute rounds with all submissions legal and no judges or points. In an interesting twist, if neither person was submitted within the allotted time then both would be disqualified. As a result, the winner would stay on until defeated.

This format has been gathering pace recently with Sakuraba’s Quintet being the forerunner, whilst Polaris also did their own version called ‘Squads‘ which featured a gi and no gi event that saw Team Europe take on Team UK. So, if you’re into watching some winner-stays on Jiu Jitsu, then this is will be a good watch.
