Today, Gordon Ryan announced that he had made over $1 million in just one month during 2021. Interestingly, he added that roughly one quarter of this was made up from grappling. On Instagram, he said “2021 is the 1st time I made over a million dollars in 1 month, only about a quarter of it from grappling.”
So, where did his wealth come from? It’s no secret that Ryan is quite savvy when it comes to his finances. According to the man himself, he invests a good chunk of his income into the stock market. Again, according to Ryan – this was advice on behalf of his mentor John Danaher, who is a wise old sage.
It seems that Ryan has struck a nice balance between his investments and income strategy. With a healthy flow of BJJFanatics DVD sales and other deals such as sponsorships and seminars, it all amounts to a nice pot. The interesting thing about this is that Ryan is now earning considerably more than most high-level MMA fighters are over at the UFC, and with far less risks in terms of concussions or CTE.
This was spoken on last year by John Danaher. Here, Danaher stated that Ryan could forge a healthy career purely from grappling, and so could others in the future. He claimed that this was one of his main goals in terms of giving back to the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community.
