Gordon Ryan Gets Stomach Diagnosis Of Gastroparesis

Gordon Ryan has taken to Instagram to announce that he finally has a diagnosis for his stomach problems. Those that have followed Ryans career more closely, will know that he has been battling digestion issues for a number of years. Although the stomach problems have never caused him to drop out of a competition, this is pure willpower since there were many occasions he had not eaten for days prior to a superfight or needed an IV infusion.

Yesterday Ryan declared he had been diagnosed with gastroparesis which is not a good diagnosis for someone that needs to eat 5 meals per day. Gastroparesis is mostly found in people who are either diabetic or malnourished (of course of which Gordon Ryan is neither). In laymans terms, the stomach is not able to empty itself properly after eating and food is left to “pile up” inside.

Ryan goes on to add that his main goal is to reach his full potential and keep competing at the highest level until he is 40 years old. He adds that competing is not about the money as this is not where the majority of his income comes from.
