Nicholas Cage and Hollywood are already a bit of a bad mix. The zany actor is well known for his strange facial expressions and often painfully overacting in many of his roles. Now a director has decided to add Jiu Jitsu to the mix with an alleged budget of $27 million.
As if 2020 couldn’t get much weirder if it tried, the movie is set to be released on November 21st later in this year.
The idea behind the film came from the manga “Jiu Jitsu” written by Jim McGrath & Dimitri Logothetis in which aliens invade earth, with the only men being able to defend themselves are Brazilians and Japanese people who have trained in Jiu Jitsu.
Oddly enough, it doesn’t mention any Americans, so it seems like the Danaher Death Squad will have finally met their match.
As to why knives, guns, missiles and bombs would not work against the aliens, who knows? It seems their only weakness is BJJ, although I’m not sure what catch wrestlers would think about this.
There hasn’t been any real footage of the grappling released from the movie yet, but it sure as hell will be weird to see Nicholas Cage perform a flying armbar on an alien.
