Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champion Orlando Sanchez recently got into a heated physical altercation with UFC veteran Sean Strickland during a sparring session. Here, Sanchez was involved with Strickland’s camp for his upcoming fight with Urijah Hall in July.
During the session, the pair connect whilst wrestling doing a collar tie. At one point, Strickland goes to grab an underhook, to which Sanchez quickly grabs an overhook and swings inwards. This was akin to a standing Mir lock which can potentially break the arm.
Strickland instantly recoiled in pain and slapped Sanchez in the face, shouting “Oh mother f***er!” which was followed by a kick to the chest of Sanchez. He then said “Why bro, why? Get away from me” to which Sanchez responded, “What’s your problem?”. Strickland said “It’s a d**k move”, to which Sanchez said, “It’s grappling.”
After this, the pair tried to continue sparring after a minute of arguing, which then ended quickly when Strickland left the cage, visibly angry with the speed of the submission that Sanchez had put on him. Sanchez is no stranger to MMA himself, previously having a record of 4-1 before moving into grappling permanently. From here, he then went on to get gold at ADCC and runs a string of Gracie Barra gyms.
