The self described “blinky kid from the suburbs” is set to face off against Dan Ige on March 13, 2021. Although given Halls track record of not being able to find an opponent, if Ige drops out due to the current global climate or injury, it will be difficult to see who replaces him.
Even though Ige is currently not a top #10 fighter, he does a 14-3 record including professional wins over Edson Barbosa and Kevin Aguilar. Ige should also be given a lot of credit since he seems to be the only fighter who has accepted a fight against Ryan Hall within the past 1.5 years.
Despite winning his last 8 fights in a row and making light work of BJJ black belt and former UFC champion BJ Penn. It has been extremely difficult to find an opponent for Ryan Hall. In all likelihood it is because Hall is not a fan favorite outside of the grappling community since the average UFC fan wants to see a knockout. In addition to this, the roster may not be “scared” of Hall, but they are extremely wary of fighting against his style.
Halls propensity to throw as many kicks as he can whilst not caring if they get caught or the fight goes to the ground means that he is a truly unique opponent in the UFC. The meta-game of current MMA rules is generally based around boxing and wrestling.
