Mackenzie Dern wins with first round armbar in UFC fight against Randa Markos

Last night Mackenzie Dern further enhanced her reputation as one of the best submission specialists in the UFC right now with a first round armbar vs Randa Markos. The result put Dern’s professional MMA record at 9-1 whilst it put Markos’s record at 10-9.

The exchange began with Dern slipping after a failed headkick, however Markos made the mistake of trying to engage with Dern on the ground. Quickly snatching a triangle position, Dern then transitioned into an omoplata sweep to get to mount. After this she finished the fight with an armbar. Interestingly, this armbar was controlled by Dern’s overhook which Markos bravely tried to fight against. However, it ended with submission after 3 minutes and 44 seconds and earned Dern the performance of the night bonus.

With such a record, the question must be asked when Dern will get her title shot as it can’t be long now.
