Back in 2019, little was known about William Tackett who has gone from strength to strength since then. During a BJJFanatics event in 2019, the lesser-known Tackett fought Tex Johnson who already had an aggressive reputation on the mats. It was literally a teenager against a grown man. Although Tackett won that day, it was Johnson who took the spotlight for all the reasons. During the match, he punched Tackett in the face. Oddly, this didn’t result in a DQ either.
At the weekend the pair met again during Subversiv. As if it was fate, the two managed to go up against each other and Tackett managed to get an arm triangle choke on Johnson. It seemed to be business as usual though as they professionally embraced after the match in what seemed to be water under the bridge. This submission further solidified Tackett’s reputation as one of the best youngsters in the USA right now.
