Felipe Pena is arguably one of the greatest ever with golds at ADCC and Worlds, as well he is the only competitor to date who has submitted Gordon Ryan in competition as a black belt. However, BJJ wasn’t always easy for Pena who seemed to be a bit more normal in his earlier years with less golds and less of an impressive physique.
Throwing it back, he captioned a picture which showed him as a fat white belt, coming second in a local competition and then his recent years as a World champion black belt. His caption read “A chubby boy, lazy, with no tendency to sports, with a nickname for sloth but with a big dream! I think BJJ did me a little bit well”. It’s safe to say Preguica has changed a lot over the years.
