In a bizarre yet intelligent move, Dan Ige revealed that he had purchased Ryan Hall’s BJJ instructional in preparation for their upcoming UFC fight. It should be noted that Ige is no slouch to grappling himself and has a distinguished reputation. Nonetheless, Ryan Hall has something of a ‘boogeyman’ reputation in the UFC right now due to his superior knowledge of grappling and specifically BJJ and leg locks.
Too often, MMA fighters are portrayed as knuckleheads that lack brains, but this is certainly not the case here. In a smart move, Ige’s friend showed screenshots of his Modern 50/50 grappling purchase. It cost Ige $199 but will be a good investment if it allows him to avoid the unorthodox grappling traps of Ryan Hall.
