Ex-UFC fighter and stand up comedian Brendan Schaub today got promoted to black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The host of ‘The Fighter And The Kid’ podcast was genuinely surprised to receive his black belt and said in an emotional Instagram post, “Achieving a black belt seemed impossible at times. Today was a big deal for me. There are so many people to thank from coaches to training partners.” He also thanked various training partners and coaches down the years, including the likes of Renzo Gracie, Rener Gracie, Kron Gracie and various others.
Although Schaub was an accomplished fighter, most of his victories came from punches, including a career high of knocking out the legendary Mirko Cro Cop. However, since retiring from MMA back in 2015, Schaub has continued training BJJ and looked truly delighted to get his latest belt promotion. He now joins his long-time friends Joe Rogan and Eddie Bravo in possessing a BJJ black belt. It took Schaub 14 years to earn this promotion.
