Gordon Ryan and Tim Spriggs beef over their skill levels

Last week at the WNO Championships, Tim Spriggs would the Heavyweight category by tapping Kaynan Duarte with a heel hook. This was a big surprise to all, as Duarte was by far the favorite going into the entire tournament.

Upon winning this belt, Gordon Ryan mocked Spriggs, claiming that he would take the belt off Spriggs in the future during an ‘exhibition match’. This meant that in Ryan’s mind, the result would be a formality. He had also claimed it was ’embarrassing’ that Duarte had lost to a semi-pro athlete and had previously gone on record to claim that Spriggs didn’t know how to submit people.

This prompted a response from Spriggs, who claimed that Gorgon Ryan had ‘failed’ as a lower belt in the gi, which was the reason as to why he’d moved to no gi. Spriggs also added that the real GOAT’s such as Buchecha and others had previously fought in both the gi and no gi whereas Ryan had not fought in the gi due to ‘quitting’ it whilst younger.

Of course, Gordon Ryan is no stranger to a verbal back and forth and give his take on things, saying “You make fun of my opponents, but I’ve beaten more ADCC medalists than anyone in history. The only reason you’re not on that list is because you can not medal at ADCC, you can’t make it past the first day. Once I am healthy, even a little better, I’m happy to compete against you. Free money is the best money.”

This one will probably happen at some point with Spriggs being a game competitor. Could he get another upset?
