This week saw Angela Hill promoted to the rank of purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Although best known for her Muay Thai skills, Hill has recently devoted more of her time to grappling – and was recently seen training in the gi.
The result was a promotion by her teachers Johnny Faria and Jena Bishop, of which Hill responded by saying “Thank you, huge honor to represent you guys as a purp!” Angela Hill was famously the first ever black female to fight in the UFC. Since then, she won the Invicta Strawweight Championship which eventually saw her return to the UFC years later.
