ADCC West Coast Trials results & review

The weekend saw Las Vegas play host to what turned out to be the biggest ADCC trials event ever, quite literally. Organized by Mo Jassim, Seth Daniels, and Tom DeBlass, the event didn’t fail to entertain which is what ADCC is about. With this said, it was fitting that it was held in a casino which like grappling, is based on fun, excitement, and sometimes an element of luck.

Before getting into things, here are the gold medalists:

ADCC WEST COAST TRIALS GOLD MEDALISTS

Mens

  • 99+ kg: Kyle Boehm
  • 99 kg: Paul Ardila
  • 88 kg: Jay Rodriguez
  • 77 kg: William Tackett
  • 66 kg: Keith Krikorian

Womens

  • 60+ kg: Amy Campo
  • -60 kg: Brianna Ste-Marie

It should be noted that only those who win gold can qualify for the main ADCC event, which is set to take place in America in September. Perhaps the best performance went to Jay Rodriguez, the younger brother of Nicky Rodriguez. Here, he managed to get gold against the odds.

Other noticeable events saw the likes of Josh Cisneros pull off a rare Suleov stretch submission, and in one match – someone got knocked out by a Buggy Choke slam which is perfectly legal in ADCC rules. This event was also watched by the likes of Gordon Ryan who had traveled from Texas to get a view of the action.

In short, if the main event is like this, then BJJ fans will not be dissapointed.
