Did you know that Youtube prankster Danny Mullen was once a serious BJJ practitioner?

Now in his 30s, Danny Mullen is a successful Youtube star where his videos rack up millions of views at a time. However, life wasn’t always like this and during his early 20s it’s fair to say that he truly lived the BJJ lifestyle.

On a throwback picture Mullen shared on his Instagram account, he wrote “Fun times. Stone broke, slacking off in community college, trying to get laid off Facebook, and chasing meaningless plastic trophies and medals on the weekends. That was all it was back then. But I guess the one thing these trophies and medals meant – or what they taught – was that (a) dedicated work toward a definite goal does pay off”

These days, Mullen does comedy videos on Youtube and has quite a following. Interestingly, he’s also done a couple of BJJ videos such as ‘fake black belt’ which have proved to be very popular. It looks like now, Mullen is pretty busy so doesn’t train as much. In fact, he’s now been a purple belt for over 10 years which hints that this is the case.

If you were in any doubt about his skills though, then watch the video below. Here, we can see a young Mullen in a controlled guard for most of the match, before finally hitting a triangle choke on his opponent.
