Owen Jones to face Gabriel Sousa at Polaris 27 for Featherweight title

Owen Jones and Gabriel Sousa prepare to face off in the main event of Polaris 27 on March 23rd, 2024. The stakes are high as the promotion’s featherweight title, previously held by the illustrious Ashley Williams, will be up for grabs. Williams, the first triple-weight champion in Polaris history, has made the difficult decision to vacate the title in order to allow this highly anticipated match to take place.

Both Jones and Sousa are undoubtedly worthy contenders for the vacant title, boasting impressive credentials in the world of no-gi grappling. Sousa’s remarkable performance at ADCC 2022, where he secured a silver medal in a fiercely competitive division, is a testament to his skills.

Jones, although earlier in his career, has also made significant strides by winning the ADCC European Trials in 2023, guaranteeing his spot in the next edition of the prestigious tournament. With both grapplers having secured invites to ADCC 2024, this match could mark the beginning of an exciting rivalry that extends beyond the confines of Polaris 27.

While the main event promises to be a thrilling encounter, the rest of the main card is set to be equally captivating. Polaris 27 will feature a welterweight grand prix with a lucrative $20,000 prize for the victor, attracting top-tier talent from across Europe. Additionally, a series of preliminary superfights will offer a glimpse into the future of the sport, showcasing emerging stars ready to make their mark.

An international affair, this will see Sousa fly in from New York City and the event is held at the ICC Wales.
