Eddie Bravo on leg locks in MMA “The theory that leg locks don’t work in MMA has gone in the wind”

Eddie Bravo knows a thing or two about MMA grappling and also leg locks…it’s fair to say he’s obsessive over both ideas. Talking to Flograppling, he said “At this point in MMA, you can run through some people as most MMA fighters aren’t training leg locks every day, they’re not training leg locks like the high level guys.” In particular he praised the likes of Ryan Hall and Garry Tonon who have both found success in high level MMA using leg attacks.

He also stated that eventually MMA would catch up with leg lockers and the golden era would end, adding “If everyone had Dante Leon leg lock defense in MMA, you’d think twice about going for a leg lock because he’s going to defend it and then smash you… it’s like early EBI days, those who are doing leg locks – all of a sudden that’s their stage, boom!” But for now, he said most MMA fighters were too busy focusing on striking, wrestling and ice baths to worry about the legs as much.
