Unless you’ve lived underneath a rock for the past couple of days, you will probably be well aware of the meme involving Gordon Ryan and Andre Galvao. In short, the pair got into a confrontation backstage at WNO, which resulted in Ryan slapping Galvao. For more information, we have it covered here.
Anyway, as ever in the world of BJJ, is spawned thousands of memes and social media seemed to go wild for some of the content that was created as a result.

As you may have guessed, the main stars were Gordon Ryan and Andre Galvao. However, for more sophisticated fans of the meme – it was the co-stars who threatened to steal the show. Firstly was the awkward power stance of John Danaher after the melee had kicked off. In a throwback to his bouncing days, the Kiwi stood firm and silent whilst rocking a fanny pack.
Secondly, Eddie Bravo was caught smirking awkwardly as the camera caught him walking in on the action. The 10th Planet boss was there to coach Geo Martinez’s match and his reaction was priceless. It was a classic 10th Planet moment which saw him spectating from the sidelines, possibly after smoking weed.
Lastly, the tension eased when Gabi Garcia strolled in. Here, she looked visibly larger than both Ryan and Galvao and calmed things. The phrase, ‘You wouldn’t want to mess with her’ came to mind and unsurprisingly the beef settled when she came on the scene.
