Does anyone else remember when ADCC was filmed on a low mega pixel camera, with athletes competing in their spare shorts and t-shirts? Those days are long gone, as ADCC Champion Gordon Ryan recently signed a $100,000 deal with Bitcoin Cash who will sponsor him in the upcoming September ADCC (2022).
Never before has such a deal been done in BJJ when someone is sponsored, and it shows that the money is rising for BJJ competitors. At the same time, it also shows the pull of Gordon Ryan, who is probably the only BJJ athlete in the world who could command such a figure right now.
It is presumed that he will wear their logo on his shorts and rash guard, but it’s not known if he has any other sponsorship obligations. This ADCC will see Ryan compete in the 99KG category as well as having his long-awaited super fight with ATOS founder Andre Galvao. The two met in February 2021 which resulted in Ryan slapping Galvao and ever since there has been drama between the two.
