Gordon Ryan argues with Ryan Hall – “You were never good at jiu jitsu”

Friday was meant to be an iconic night for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which saw Garry Tonon face off against Thanh Le for a ONE FC Championship belt. It didn’t go as planned though, as Tonon quickly went for a leg entanglement, which saw Le calmly defend it and knock out Tonon in under a minute.

Interestingly, Le is coached by Ryan Hall and is brown belt under him. Minutes after the fight, Hall took to Instagram to claim that Tonon was disrespectful towards Le by saying he was “Underprepared” for his grappling whilst praising the prowess of Le.

This criticism wasn’t met well by the majority of people who called out Hall for kicking Tonon whilst he was down. Tonon responded by offering Hall a fist fight and put up multiple sources of respectful comments made towards both Hall and Le before the fight.

However, it was probably Gordon Ryan who ended up making the most noise. As ever, he wasn’t happy and was quick to defend his team mate. Here, he claimed that Hall had never won a BJJ competition of not and even said “You were never good at jiu jitsu” whilst further adding “He’s a guy with no positional or submissions game of any kind who did leg locks in a time when no one else did.”

Hall responded by calling Gordon Ryan a “Petulant teenager”, before eventually editing his original post and apologizing to Garry Tonon.
